Deep House Archives Podcast - Deep House Blog

Greetings, After one of our longest periods of absence, we're back with the last mix of the Deep House Archives produced in Montreal. For professional reasons, the podcast's hometown will be New York from now on and while the change of scenery is expected to affect the mood and style of the mixes, the last Montreal-based mix is a tribute to the wonderful city that became home for almost 7 years. A contemporary deep house tour de force, featuring the best and brightest from our favorite music genre. Melancholic but optimistic, reflective and energetic, akin to the current mood. Greetings, This year's autumn update comes in the midst of a huge increase of deep house popularity. The first Deep House Archives mixes were posted online almost 15 years ago and our commitment to the genre spans three decades. While we stayed away from passing judgement on styles that enjoyed meteoric rises in fame, we always tried to focus on music that could withstand the test of time. This mix is another testament to our mentality. Shibboleth is our way of rounding up songs and styles that make the distinction between ephemeral and enduring deep house. Special thanks go to Estrup for providing the photo art for the mix. "Better Days", mixed by Theo Zanos, is filled with the latest offerings of the nu disco genre, a style featured almost a year ago in this blog with the 24th DHA volume. Although nu disco has been receiving increased attention lately, several artists managed to retain the originality and freshness of their sound until now and this mix provides a testament to their creative abilities. Named after the legendary NYC club, where the late Loleatta Holloway performed the "My Loleatta" acapella featured in the mix, the new DHA update provides the right soundtrack to welcome those better days ahead. Greetings! It has been way too long since the DHA blog was updated, but we hope this update will make up for all this time. The Deep House Archives podcast celebrates it's 3rd anniversary since it's revival, with a mix that deviates from the usual DHA style, but stays true to the spirit of constant search for new sounds, fusions and ideas in contemporary electronic dance music. Voyage of Discovery, mixed by Theo Zanos, explores the nu-disco genre and the incorporation of deep house elements, creating a style that is not limited to re-edits of original-era disco songs but serves as a full-fledged continuum of the 70s space and 80s italo disco. Named after the pilot episode of Canadian-produced, early 70s sci-fi tv series Starlost, but also a very fitting wordplay, the latest DHA issue might have lower BPMs than usual, but won't have any problems operating in the dance floor realm. Special thanks go to Allard One, who provided the photo art for this mix. As we mentioned earlier, this update serves also as a…
